Carmen, lady baller!

Learn the lesson. This story is well written. There was one moment where it seemed to drag, just a little, but then it picked up quickly. I hope readers will not overlook Carmen's statement concerning the difficulty of living the street life. Everyone is quick to say drug dealers want to make the quick, easy money. Carmen lets it be known, there's nothing easy about it. Spend a few hours with Ms. Stringer's book, you'll enjoy it whether you truly understand the lifestyle she depicts or not.

Vickie Stringer's first book, Let that be the Reason was absolutely excellent! I loved it! I had never even heard of her until i saw it in the Essence Magazine. I try to stay up on books! Especially popular books by African American authors! And it was hot! You go girl-Carmen was an excellent character and i loved every minute of it! I even have my boyfriend wanting to read it! And he doesn't read books! Vickie you make sure you keep em coming because i am a faithful fan!

Let That Be The Reason You Don't Hustle

This was an okay read but I enjoyed B-More Careful and A Hustler's Wife better. I am not knocking this author but at times I felt it glorified hustling. I let one of my young proteges read this book and instead of seeing the real message she only saw how she would have been smarter than Carmen and wouldn't get busted. But in the street life you will eventually DIE OR GO TO JAIL OR EVEN WORSE PUT YOUR FAMILY IN THE CROSSFIRE. I think this book should be read in classrooms where children live and see this life everyday then it should be thoroughly discussed.
